First of all, it might be a good idea to tell you what a record pool is.
Record Pools are orgaizations of professional nightclub disc jockeys that serve as a distribution vehicle for new dance music. They allow Record Companies to distribute their promotional materials to a large number of key nightclubs without the expense of tracking the clubs in hundreds of markets.
The Dixie Dance Kings was formed in Atlanta in 1978 by key radio programmers and record company personnel so that they could obtain information on new dance product directly from the DJs at the street level. Currently, DDK services over 100 DJs in the United States, providing them with the latest in House, Rap, Dance, Top 40, Alternative, etc. In the past 17 years, over 800 of the top DJs in the region have been members of the Dixie Dance Kings record pool including the founders of Ultimx and Promo Only. We work with the best.

To become a member of the DDK you must be a professional working DJ. That includes Clubs, Mobile applications, Radio or Satellite. You must have a minimum of 1 year experience and work at least 2 nights per week. Mobile DJs will be considered only if they play colleges, high schools and street parties.

DDK accepts and will distribute 12 inch vinyl promotional copies from both indy and major labels in the following categories and amounts without solicitation:
Labels outside of the US are encouraged to send a sample for evaluation before shipping bulk. DDK will distribute import product to our key clubs and DJs and will provide those labels with an evaluation that may be of use when seeking a US licensing deal.
Quantities that vary from the above should be cleared prior to shipment. Be sure to include address, email, phone and FAX NUMBER.
